One Transported After Two-Vehicle Crash on Happy Valley Road in Springfield Township

Springfield Township, PAThis morning at approximately 10:20 AM, rescue and medical personnel from Springfield Volunteer Fire Company and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Happy Valley Road and Lucas Road, just north of the intersection.While units were enroute, Erie County 911 advised that the incident involved two vehicles, one striking a parked vehicle, with one person reportedly in the roadway.West County 110 arrived on scene, followed by Engine 643 and Utility 646. Due to road conditions in the area, Engine 644 was directed by Chief 640 to stage at the top of the hill near the railroad tracks to help slow approaching traffic and provide scene safety. Engine 643 reported two vehicles with moderate damage.West County 110 transported one patient to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Springfield units cleared the scene shortly after, and command was turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police, who remained on scene to complete the investigation and necessary paperwork.

Springfield personnel secured the vehicle and confirmed there was no active fire.West County 110 transported one individual to a nearby hospital. McKean Hose Company Responds to Jackknifed Tractor-Trailer on I-90

McKean Township, PAThis evening at shortly after 4 PM, McKean Hose Company was initially dispatched for fire police to assist Pennsylvania State Police with a jackknifed tractor trailer blocking the driving lane on I-90 eastbound near MM 19. Shortly after dispatch, the assignment was upgraded to respond with Rescue 408 for fluid mitigation efforts.Crews arrived on scene to find one tractor trailer jackknifed off the interstate into the trees along the interstate. While crews worked on scene to contain the fluid leaks, traffic remained flowing on the interstate and traffic was pushed over to the passing lane. Once the tow trucks arrived on scene, traffic on I-90 was temporarily halted.Pennsylvania State Police were on scene investigating the accident West Ridge assisted with fire police duties on the interstate. Traffic was later reopened. No injuries reported at the scene.

Vehicle Rollover Reported on Huntley Road in Springfield Township

Springfield Township, PAThis evening at approximately 8:20 PM, Springfield Volunteer Fire Department and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with rollover in the area of Griffey Road and Huntley Road.Due to the reported mechanism of the crash, STAT MedEvac was placed on standby. West County 110, Engines 643 and 644, and Utility 646 went en route shortly after dispatch. While units were responding, dispatch advised that Pennsylvania State Police had arrived on scene and reported the occupant was out of the vehicle.A short time later, Engine 643 arrived on scene and confirmed one vehicle on its roof in a ditch. Engine 640 assumed command of the incident, which was located near Biscoff Road on Huntley Road. With no injuries reported, West County 110 was placed back in service with no further need for medical assistance.Springfield Fire was subsequently released from the scene by PSP, who remained on location while West County Towing removed the vehicle.

Large Interstate Pileup Prompts Coordinated Multi-Agency Response Across Eastern Erie County

Harborcreek Township, PAThis afternoon’s significant chain-reaction crash on the interstate showcased an outstanding, coordinated response by fire, EMS, law enforcement, tow truck operators, and partner agencies across eastern Erie County.Crews were initially dispatched around 1:09 PM to the westbound lanes near the 37 MM for a semi vs. passenger vehicle. Upon arrival, Echo 1 reported occupants standing outside a vehicle, and quickly identified an active pileup extending down the westbound lanes. Incoming units immediately began locating and assessing additional crashes along the chain.Incident Command was initially established by 210 and later transferred to 200. Operations Command was set up directly on the interstate by Fuller 20C4, with EMS Command handled by Crescent L8. Multiple ambulances from across East County were dispatched and staged on the interstate as the incident expanded.Fire and EMS crews worked on foot, moving vehicle-to-vehicle to triage patients, relay real-time information to command, and prioritize transport needs. As patient information was confirmed, ambulances were strategically deployed to ensure efficient care and transport.In a critical support role, the Harborcreek School District provided three buses to the scene, allowing responders to safely relocate motorists off the interstate to the TA, while others were taken to Fairfield’s warming shelter and offered warmth and shelter during extended roadway closures.First responders operated in extremely challenging conditions, including near whiteout visibility, blowing snow, bitter cold temperatures, and the constant hazard of nearby traffic still moving along the interstate. Despite these dangers, crews remained focused on patient care, scene safety, and coordination across the incident, demonstrating exceptional professionalism under high-risk conditions.This incident highlights the importance of training, communication, and inter-agency cooperation. An incredible job by all responders and partners involved in managing a complex, rapidly evolving emergency, and keeping the focus where it belongs: life safety.Erie County Department of Public Safety (EC911) was the focal point of communication regarding this incident and attaining information from 911 callers. They provided information, took information, and helped to pull resources throughout the county that were needed at the scene. Multiple agencies made this possible including Fuller Hose, Crescent Hose, Fairfield Fire, Harborcreek Fire, Greenfield Fire, Kuhl Hose Fire, Brookside Fire, Union City, Millcreek Paramedics, Millcreek Township Fire, Lawrence Park Fire Department, EmergyCare, and Eas County EMS. Ambulances were provided by EmergyCare, Union City, Chautauqua County, Findley Lake, Ripley, Westfield, Kuhl Hose, Crescent, and Millcreek Paramedic Service. Harborcreek School District provided school buses and Harborcreek Township provided a plow. PennDOT supervisor and PSP were on scene.

Jackknifed Tractor-Trailer Causes Fuel Leak on I-90 in Girard Township

Girard Township, PAThis afternoon at approximately 3:15 PM, fire and EMS personnel from Platea Volunteer Fire Company, West County Paramedics, and Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident involving a jackknifed tractor-trailer on Interstate 90 westbound near mile marker 13, near Beckman Road.Platea VFC responded with Engine 592 and Utility 599, while West County Paramedics unit WC110 arrived on scene shortly after Pennsylvania State Police. Upon arrival, crews found a single tractor-trailer jackknifed in the roadway with an active fuel leak from the vehicle’s fuel tanks. No injuries were reported, and no patients required transport.Engine 592 arrived and Chief 580 assumed command, subsequently returning WC110 to service. According to reports, it was believed that approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from the fuel system. Due to the fuel leak, Platea VFC requested the Lake City Fire Company HazMat trailer to provide additional resources for mitigation. A tow company arrived a short time later to assist with vehicle recovery.Traffic was impacted while emergency personnel secured the scene and addressed the fuel leak. Motorists are reminded to slow down, remain alert, and use caution when traveling through incident scenes, particularly in adverse weather. Remember to turn on headlights, reduce speed, and move over for emergency responders.

Crews Respond to Two-Vehicle Accident at I-90 Eastbound Exit

Springfield Township, PAThis evening, just after 7:30 PM, first responders from the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, along with medical personnel from West County Paramedics, were dispatched to a reported two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at the I-90 Eastbound exit ramp to Route 215 northbound in Springfield Township.Crews arrived to find a two-vehicle crash with moderate damage. Fire personnel from Springfield assisted with traffic control and supported West County crews on scene with patient extrication. Medical personnel evaluated the occupants and transported two patients to a nearby hospital via West County Units 110 and 112.Eagle Towing responded with two flatbed trucks to remove the vehicles from the roadway. Springfield firefighters assisted with fluid control and cleanup while vehicle recovery technicians handled the removal.The Pennsylvania State Police were on scene and are investigating the accident. Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down I-90 Eastbound

Fairview Township, PAThis evening around 6:45 PM, rescue and EMS personnel were dispatched alongside Pennsylvania State Police for a reported multi-vehicle accident near the 17-mile marker on I-90 eastbound. Incoming units were advised by Erie County Department of Public Safety that a vehicle had reportedly lost control, resulting in debris and large boulders scattered across the roadway. West County 110 was first to arrive on scene and confirmed that seven vehicles were involved.Fire police from Girard and Fairview closed I-90 eastbound at the Fairview exit, with assistance from State Police. All traffic was diverted onto Route 98. Several vehicles were found off the roadway on both sides of the interstate. Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the scene. Pennsylvania State Police remained on location investigating the crash, and multiple tow trucks were called in to remove the vehicles. No further details are currently available.The interstate has since reopened.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Ridge Road Near Nye Road

Springfield Township, PAYesterday at approximately 5:40 PM, rescue and EMS personnel from the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Nye Road and Ridge Road. West County 111 responded promptly after the initial dispatch, followed by West County 112 to provide support.64L3 was first on scene and reported one vehicle with moderate to heavy damage and a second vehicle with moderate damage. Engine 643 arrived shortly after as Chief 640 assumed command. EMS crews evaluated the patients while fire and rescue personnel secured the vehicles, contained fluid leaks, and began debris cleanup. Utility 646 provided traffic control on the west side of the incident at Steinberg Road, while an additional fire police unit closed traffic at Nye Road.Eagle Towing arrived quickly and removed both vehicles from the scene. West County Paramedics cleared with no further EMS needs. Pennsylvania State Police were also on scene and investigating the accident.

Motor Vehicle Accident with Rollover Near 13 MM EB

Girard Township, PAYesterday at approximately 3:45 PM, Platea Volunteer Fire Department, Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with rollover near the 13-mile marker eastbound on Interstate 90. Initial reports indicated possible entrapment, and responding units were advised that air medical was placed on standby due to the nature of the crash. Additionally, units were advised that STAT MedEvac had a 17-minute ETA, if needed.Responding units included West County 111 and 112, Engine 592, Utility 599, Rescue 643, Utility 646, and Brush 649. Upon arrival, Chief 580 assumed command and confirmed a two-vehicle accident with heavy damage. Upon assessments provided by WC 111 and 112, 580 placed STAT back in service. Fire police reduced eastbound traffic down to one lane around the accident scene.According to a report released by the Pennsylvania State Police in Girard, the crash occurred when a westbound vehicle, traveling in the left lane, exited the roadway, crossed the center median, and began to roll - becoming airborne in the process. While airborne, the vehicle collided with a second vehicle traveling eastbound.Platea and Springfield units remained on scene for an extended period to provide traffic control. The Erie County Coroner was requested and responded to the scene. Platea and Springfield crews assisted the coroner upon arrival, before clearing and transferring command to fire police while West County Towing completed vehicle recovery operations.

Springfield Firefighters Respond to Rollover Crash on Route 6N

Springfield Township, PAThis evening at approximately 5:00 PM, rescue personnel from Springfield Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with rollover on Route 6N, just north of Biscoff Road. West County EMS units 110, 111, and 112 responded, while Chief 640 went enroute to the station. Engine 643, Rescue 644, and Utility 646 went enroute to the scene. Responding units were advised that initial reports suggested up to three patients might have been involved, including one possibly trapped beneath the overturned vehicle off the roadway in the woods.Engine 643 arrived on scene, and Chief 640 assumed command. Upon arrival, first responders confirmed that only one patient was involved and that the individual was not trapped under the vehicle. West County 112 was placed back in service after confirmation that only one patient required care. Once the individual was extricated out of the woods, fire personnel provided a secondary search of the area to ensure that there was only one individual.Fire police were requested to temporarily close Route 6N. Due to the nature of the accident, STAT MedEvac was initially placed on standby; however, the helicopter was later stood down because of weather conditions. One individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Springfield Volunteer Fire Department responded with a crew of eleven members.  Pennsylvania State Police were on scene investigating the accident and assisting fire personnel with extrication from the woods.

Motorcycle Accident Sends One to Hospital Saturday Morning

Springfield Township, PAAt approximately 8:40 AM on Saturday, rescue and EMS personnel from Springfield Volunteer Fire Company and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. West County 111 and 112 responded to the scene.Crews were advised that a medical helicopter had been placed on standby, with a 17-minute estimated time of arrival if needed. Upon arrival of Engine 643 and Utility 646, 650 assumed command. After assessing the situation, the helicopter was stood down and the patient was transported by ground to a nearby hospital via West County 111.The roadway remained closed for an extended period while the Pennsylvania State Police conducted an investigation. The roadway was later reopened at around 10:15 AM, and crews cleared the scene and returned in service.

Motorcycle Crash Prompts MedEvac Response in Girard

Girard, PAThis afternoon at approximately 1:15 PM, first responders from A.F. Dobler Hose, Fairview Fire & Rescue, and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. Initial reports indicated two patients were down in the roadway.Upon receiving details regarding one patient’s condition, West County 111 requested STAT MedEvac be placed on standby. Shortly after, 551 arrived on scene, confirmed the presence of two injured individuals, and assumed command of the incident.Rescue 544 responded quickly to assist with traffic control and securing the scene. West County 111 was notified that STAT MedEvac was already in the area with an estimated time of arrival of three minutes. Crews designated the parking lot of Saint John’s Parish Center in Girard as the landing zone. Utility 566 and Fairview’s 539 also assisted with traffic control on scene.The helicopter landed approximately 12 minutes after the initial dispatch. West County 111 transported one patient from the crash scene to the helicopter, where the transfer from the ambulance stretcher to the aircraft stretcher was conducted smoothly. The helicopter was on the ground for approximately 18 minutes before lifting off just four minutes after patient loading was complete. West County 115 transported a secondary patient to nearby hospital.On scene, crews provided assistance to both Girard Police and the Pennsylvania State Police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Springfield Crews Respond to Single-Vehicle Crash on I-90

Springfield Township, PAThis evening, at approximately 6:15 PM, emergency crews from the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle crash near the 1-mile marker on the eastbound lanes. West County Paramedics (Unit 112) were first on scene and reported a single vehicle with moderate damage, which had come to rest against the center cable barrier in the median. All occupants were out of the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.Engine 643 arrived shortly after and secured the vehicle. With no hazards or medical needs present, all units cleared the scene and returned in service. Pennsylvania State Police remained on scene to complete the investigation and await the arrival of the vehicle recovery service.

Driver Extricated After Vehicle Strikes Pole in Girard Township

Girard Township, PAThis morning, shortly before 11:00 AM, emergency crews from A.F. Dobler Hose Company and West County Paramedics were dispatched to the 11000 block of Ridge Road in Girard Township for a reported motor vehicle crash. Initial information from Erie County dispatch indicated that Pennsylvania State Police were already on scene and had confirmed a vehicle had struck a utility pole, with wires down. It was unknown at the time whether the lines were live.Responding units arrived to find one vehicle on its side in a ditch, with significant damage after striking a utility pole. Crews confirmed that wires were down in the area and that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue 544 requested an additional rescue unit to assist with the extrication. The Lake City Fire Company was dispatched, and Chief 640 advised that a crew was available at the station. County dispatch subsequently added them to the call.Prior to crews beginning extrication, Penelec crews were already working in the area and responded immediately. They used voltage detection equipment to ensure the power lines were de-energized before rescue crews made contact with the vehicle.Once the scene was deemed safe, crews stabilized the vehicle using a Junkyard Dog Rescue Strut to prevent any uncontrolled movement during the operation. They initially removed the windshield in an attempt to access and extricate the patient, but this method proved insufficient. Crews then used two Holmatro rescue cutters, one from Engine 643 and another from Rescue 544, to cut the roof, allowing it to be pried down and create sufficient space for access.The patient was successfully extricated approximately 30 minutes after the initial dispatch. West County Paramedics transported one individual from the scene. Fairview Fire and Rescue assisted with fire police on scene. A vehicle recovery technician from Eagle Towing was on scene to perform the recovery.

Early Morning Crash in Springfield Township Sends Two to Hospital

Springfield Township, PAFirst responders from Springfield and West County Paramedics Association were dispatched for a reported vehicle accident early Friday morning. The call came in shortly after 6 AM for a reported rollover with ejection near the intersection of Ridge Road and Steenberg Road. Due to the initial reports of the severity, STAT MedEvac was placed on standby as units began responding. West County Unit 112 was advised that the crash involved a partial ejection. WC112 was later advised that STAT MedEvac was canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.The first unit to arrive on scene, 64L3, confirmed a two-vehicle collision with significant damage and quickly requested two ALS ambulances to respond. Engine 643, Engine 644, and Utility 646 followed shortly after, arriving to assist with patient care, scene safety, and hazard mitigation. Once Engine 643 arrived on scene, command was established by Chief 640. Springfield personnel assisted West County crews with initial patient stabilization, while additional responders worked to control traffic in the area and clear debris from the roadway. It was determined that no rollover occurred; however, one vehicle had exited the roadway and came to rest in a field, while the other remained on Route 20.Both West County Units 111 and 112 transported one patient each to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The Pennsylvania State Police are handling the investigation and remained on scene for some time gathering information. A vehicle recovery technician from Eagle Towing was on scene to remove the vehicle from the roadway and neighboring field.

Vehicle Fire Reported Following Crash in Lake City

Girard Township, PAOn Tuesday evening, June 17, 2025, at approximately 7:25 PM, Lake City Fire Company was dispatched to a reported two-vehicle motor vehicle accident with fire near the intersection just west of Nursery Road and West Lake Road. Lake Shore Fire Department’s 501 came across the incident while passing through the area and utilized a fire extinguisher to knock down the bulk of the flames prior to Lake City’s arrival.Lake City units, including Engine 563, Rescue 577, and Utility 566, arrived shortly thereafter. Engine 563’s crew worked to gain access under the hood of the vehicle, which had been damaged in the collision. A reciprocating saw was used to cut the hood latch mechanism to allow entry. Upon access, firefighters located an area of active fire and deployed a 1-inch line from Engine 563 to extinguish the flames in the engine compartment. A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.Utility 566 assisted with traffic control at the intersection of Nursery Road and West Lake Road during the incident.Initial information from the scene suggested that road rage or reckless driving may have contributed to the crash. No injuries were reported. Multiple troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police responded and were on scene investigating.

Car Crashes Into House at Avonia and Water in Fairview; Two Transported to Hospital

Fairview Township, PAThis morning, at just before 9:15 a.m., first responders and rescue personnel from Fairview and Girard were dispatched to the scene for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a car into a residence. The accident took place near the intersection of Water Street and Avonia Road, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and sending two people to the hospital. Medic 1 was first to arrive and confirmed one vehicle had struck the house, with all occupants safely out of the vehicle.West County Units 111, 113, and 115 were en route shortly after dispatch, with 113 arriving first on scene. Fairview’s Rescue 539 responded shortly after and established command under L4. Girard’s Rescue 544 was also en route but was returned to service per instruction from command unit 541. West County 113 transported one individual to UPMC Hamot, while West County 115 transported a second patient to the same facility. Pennsylvania State Police were on scene conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. West County Towing responded to assist with the recovery of two vehicles involved in the incident. No additional information has been released.

Vehicle Heavily Damaged in Rollover Crash Near McKean

McKean Township, PAOn Tuesday evening at around 9 PM, McKean Hose Company responded to a reported motor vehicle crash in the area of 3380 Flower Road. Units 407, 408, and 409 arrived on scene within minutes and found a vehicle resting on its side off the roadway in high brush. Chief 410, who also responded, confirmed that one person had already self-extricated from the vehicle before first responders arrived.According to a report from the Pennsylvania State Police, the vehicle had entered a skid, left the northwest side of the roadway, and struck a ditch. The vehicle continued through a grassy area, sideswiped a tree, and rolled multiple times before striking several smaller trees on its passenger side and coming to a stop. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash.Ambulance 407 transported one patient priority-one to a nearby hospital for treatment. During the crash, a National Fuel Gas line marker was also damaged. NFG was notified to assess the situation.

Early Morning Crash Displaces Residents After Vehicle Strikes Building on Rice Avenue

Girard, PALast night at shortly after 2 AM, first responders from A.F. Dobler Hose Company, Lake City Fire Company, and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported vehicle-into-building incident near 210 Rice Avenue in Girard Borough.West County Paramedics arrived on scene within five minutes of the initial dispatch and found a single vehicle that had collided with the structure. The driver had already exited the vehicle prior to their arrival.Rescue 577 was the first fire department apparatus to arrive on scene, with Rescue 544 and Engine 563 arriving shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, fire crews immediately worked to secure the vehicle, ensuring there was no further threat to the building’s integrity or to responders operating at the scene. Once the area was stabilized, personnel began a structural assessment of the building. Cracks were observed on both the first and second floors, raising significant concerns about the stability and safety of the structure.After evaluating the damage, Chief 540 determined that the building was unsafe for continued occupancy and deemed it unlivable for the remainder of the night. He instructed Girard’s L2 to assist with evacuating the remaining occupants.Evacuated residents were advised to meet at Girard’s Fire Station to await further assistance. The American Red Cross was contacted and initiated support services for the displaced residents. In total, three apartments within the building were evacuated, resulting in the evacuation of six individuals along with four cats and one dog.The driver of the vehicle declined medical treatment at the scene and was detained by the Girard Borough Police Department for further investigation. No injuries were sustained by the tenants of the building. A vehicle recovery technician from Eagle Towing recovered the vehicle from structure.

West Springfield, PAAt approximately 10:00 AM this morning, first responders from the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, along with West County Paramedics, were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident on I-90 westbound between the 1 and 3 mile-markers near Huntley Road. Erie County Department of Public Safety advised Chief 640 that multiple 911 calls reported a minivan rollover off the roadway. At the time of dispatch, it was unknown whether there was entrapment. Later, Conneaut units on scene coordinated an additional ambulance from Conneaut Fire Department. All 39 bus occupants were successfully evacuated, with continued triage and patient assessment by fire and EMS personnel on-site.Of the two tour buses traveling together, the unaffected bus returned to the scene to transport uninjured passengers from the impacted bus. Patient transport included three individuals via ambulance 527 to Conneaut, four via Conneaut 219 to Ashtabula, four via Girard’s 547 to Conneaut, and an undetermined number via West County 111 and Conneaut’s second ambulance. Truck Collides with Tree in Early Morning Accident on Sampson Avenue

Lake City, PAThis morning at shortly before 7 AM, Lake City Fire Company and West County Paramedics responded to a reported motor vehicle accident (MVA) involving a truck and a tree at the intersection of Sampson Avenue and Main Street. Engine 563 arrived on scene shortly after Lake City Police Department.Upon arrival, first responders found a truck with moderate front-end damage after colliding with a tree. The sole occupant of the vehicle had self-extricated but sustained injuries. Lake City and West County EMS personnel swiftly provided medical care and transported to a nearby hospital.In addition to providing medical assistance, LCFC supported Lake City Police with traffic control and cleanup at the scene. Emergency units cleared the scene and returned to service by approximately 7:30 AM. The Lake City Police Department was currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Vehicle Collides with Fallen Tree Limb at Zimmers Service Center: No Injuries Reported

West Springfield, PAEarly this morning, at approximately 5:30 AM, Springfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a service call at Zimmers Service Center for a tree down on an unoccupied vehicle. Utility 646 responded to the scene. While enroute, units were informed that a large tree limb had fallen onto a vehicle and all occupants had safely exited.However, when Utility 646 arrived, it was determined that the vehicle had collided with the limb either as it was falling or shortly thereafter. Springfield Volunteers worked to clean the roadway of the remaining tree debris when they arrived on scene. Chief 640 notified county dispatch that Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) were needed on scene as the incident was now classified as a motor vehicle accident (MVA) involving a tree limb, rendering the vehicle inoperable. PSP arrived on scene shortly after to complete a crash report. Once PSP arrived on scene, Springfield cleared the scene. No injuries were reported.

Vehicle Collides with House in Lake City; Minor Damage Reported

Lake City, PAAt approximately 8:00 AM this morning, the Lake City Fire Company, A.F. Dobler Hose & Ladder Co., West County Paramedics, and the Lake City Police Department were dispatched to the corner of Hall and Lake in response to a reported motor vehicle accident involving a collision with a residential structure. County dispatch advised incoming units that there was reportedly no entrapment.West County Unit 111 was first on the scene and quickly assessed the situation. The sole occupant of the vehicle had reportedly self-extricated before first responders arrived.Lake City Fire Company’s Engine 563 confirmed that the vehicle had impacted the side of a house, resulting in minor damage to the vehicle. Following the initial assessment, Girard’s Rescue 544 responded as a priority 2 unit. However, after further evaluation by units on the scene, Rescue 544 was put back in service as the situation was deemed under control.The individual involved in the accident was transported to UPMC Hamot by West County Unit 111. An officer from the Lake City Police Department was on scene investigating the incident. No further details are currently available.

Incident command was established by Chief 640.Three patients were transported via ambulance to UPMC Hamot. Within moments of the dispatch, Fairview’s Ambulance 527, West County’s 112, and Lake Shore’s Ladder 509 went enroute to the scene.West County 112 and Ladder 509 arrived on scene at nearly the same time, approximately five minutes after the initial dispatch. They encountered and reported two vehicles with moderate damage. The crews swiftly initiated medical care for two patients and transferred them to West County 112 and Fairview’s Ambulance 527 for transport. Command requested additional fire police to the scene for traffic control.Engine 539 arrived shortly thereafter and immediately began securing the vehicles, mitigating fluids, and conducting cleanup operations. Given the busy nature of the intersection, crews on scene managed fire police duties, ensuring the safety of both responders and the public while maintaining the flow of traffic on West Lake Road and Dutch Road. The collaboration among the departments ensured a coordinated and efficient response to the incident. Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene investigating the incident.

Two-Car Accident at Route 98 and Sterrettania Road; No Injuries Reported

Fairview Township, PAThis evening at approximately 8:20 PM, Fairview Fire and Rescue, Lake Shore Fire Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a reported two-car accident at the intersection of Route 98 and Sterrettania Road. Ambulance 527 and Rescue 539 promptly responded to the scene.Ambulance 527, arriving shortly after the Pennsylvania State Police, reported two vehicles with moderate damage. Responders also advised that Route 98 was closed in both directions due to the vehicles obstructing the roadway. Fairview medical personnel evaluated multiple individuals at the scene, while Fairview rescue personnel secured the damaged vehicles.Fairview’s fire police shut down Route 98 between Sterrettania Road and Market Road. West County Towing was called to the scene, arriving with two flatbeds to swiftly remove the vehicles. Fairview personnel, along with West County Towing recovery technicians, performed fluid management and cleaned up debris. Rollover Accident on Ridge Road with Ejection; STAT MedEvac Grounded Due to Weather

West Springfield, PAEarly this morning at just before 2 AM, first responders from Springfield Volunteer Fire Department and West County Paramedic Association were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with rollover and ejection near 14200 Ridge Road. Due to the nature of the call, STAT MedEvac was placed on standby. On dispatch, crews were advised that the car left the roadway, rolled over into a cornfield, and that the driver was ejected from the vehicle. West County 112, Engine 643, and Utility 646 responded to the scene. Erie County dispatch advised West County 112 and advised of "serious" injuries per PSP. West County 112 requested STAT, however STAT was unable to fly due to weather.Shortly after, Engine 643 and Utility 646 arrived on scene and 651 assumed command. Utility 646 was used to close Route 20 eastbound traffic at Route 5. Springfield personnel provided patient care while West County 112 was en route to the scene. Once West County 112 arrived, Springfield and West County responders transferred the patient to West County 112, who subsequently transported the patient to UPMC Hamot.Pennsylvania State Police were on scene investigating the accident. Motorcycle vs. Truck Accident at Home Tavern Leads to Emergency Response and Investigation

West Springfield, PAAt approximately 6:24 PM, first responders from Springfield Volunteer Fire Department and West County Paramedic Association were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle versus truck in front of the Home Tavern. Engine 643, Engine 646, Utility 646, West County 112, and Medic 1 responded to the scene. STAT MedEvac was not placed on standby at initial dispatch. Bystanders on scene swiftly stepped into action and provided aid until first responders arrived on scene.At 6:27 PM, West County 112 inquired about placing a helicopter on standby. By 6:30 PM, the closest STAT MedEvac unit reported a 29-minute estimated time of arrival (ETA). At 6:33 PM, county authorities instructed the chopper to launch.At 6:34 PM, Springfield units arrived on scene where a motorcycle partially under the front of a pickup truck, with a victim laying on the ground nearby. Immediately, multiple Springfield personnel jumped into action and began providing medical assistance. Utility 646 proceeded to set up a landing zone across from the township building at Ridge and Nye and secured it at 6:39 PM. West County 112 arrived on scene at 6:40 PM.At 6:42 PM, the Medic decided to transport the individual by ground to the nearest hospital and canceled the helicopter, moments after it had taken off. At 6:50 PM, crews on West County 112 started their trip, Priority 1, to UPMC Hamot with both medics onboard.On scene, traffic was temporarily halted on both the eastbound and westbound lanes. Once West County 112 went enroute, crews reopened the roadway for westbound traffic. Once some emergency vehicles cleared the scene, both west and eastbound traffic was reopened, with a slightly different traffic pattern. Due to the nature of the accident, Pennsylvania State Police brought in Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist (CARS) who investigated the crash. Springfield and Platea fire police remained on scene for traffic control as PSP continued their investigation. Fire police and investigators cleared the scene shortly after 11 PM.

Semi Strikes Beckman Road Bridge Near MM 12; No Injuries Reported

Girard Township, PAThis morning, the Platea Volunteer Fire Company, Springfield Volunteer Fire Company, West County Paramedics, and Pennsylvania State Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident near mile marker 12 in the westbound lanes. While en route, crews were informed that multiple callers had reported a crash involving two tractor-trailers. Further updates indicated that the driver of a semi had reported striking the Beckman Road bridge, with no injuries reported.West County 110 and 111 arrived on scene and confirmed that no injuries had occurred. Engine 592 arrived shortly after and placed both Engine 643 and Utility 646 back in service.At this time, the Beckman Road bridge and sections of Beckman Road have been closed until further notice. PennDOT engineers will assess the structural integrity of the bridge, as a support beam beneath it sustained visible damage from the impact of the semi’s secured load. According to the last Beckman Road Bridge Feasibility Study released in 2023, the bridge has a clearance of just less than 14 feet over the westbound lanes. Additionally, the bridge was already slated for replacement in 2027.No further details are available at this time.
