Tandem Tractor-Trailer Rolls Over on I-90, Crews Respond to Entrapment

Girard Township, PA – Shortly after 1 AM, rescue and EMS crews from Platea Volunteer Fire Company, Springfield Volunteer Fire Company, and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident near the 13-mile marker on I-90 Westbound. Responding units were advised that Pennsylvania State Police were already on scene and had confirmed entrapment.
Upon arrival, crews found that a tandem tractor-trailer had rolled off the roadway, striking trees and debris, which then fell onto the cab. West County Paramedics’ Ambulance 110 arrived first and reported moderate to heavy damage. Crews confirmed entrapment and requested an update on the fire department’s response for extrication. Platea crews arrived shortly after, followed by Springfield crews. Springfield was quickly relieved and placed back in service.
Platea crews completed their operations and cleared the scene around 2 AM, turning it over to Pennsylvania State Police. No injuries were reported.
