Narrative
Girard Township, PA – This afternoon at approximately 3:50 PM, firefighters from the Lake City Fire Department, West County Paramedics units 110 and 116, and A.F. Dobler Hose Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of Nursery Road (Haggerty Street) and Middle Road in Girard Township for a reported two-vehicle accident.
Responding units were advised that two vehicles were involved and that STAT MedEvac was unavailable due to weather conditions if an air medical transport was needed. West County units 110 and 116 responded shortly after the initial dispatch. Rescue 577 arrived along with Engine 563 and Rescue 544. Officers from the Girard Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police also responded to the scene.
Chief 560 established command and requested fire police to assist with traffic control. Upon arrival, firefighters assisted EMS crews with extricating patients from one of the vehicles. Two individuals were transported to a nearby hospital.
Nursery Road (Haggerty Street) and Middle Road were temporarily closed in the immediate area while emergency crews worked to treat patients, investigate the crash, and remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
