Vehicle Fire Reported Following Crash in Lake City

Narrative

Girard Township, PA – On Tuesday evening, June 17, 2025, at approximately 7:25 PM, Lake City Fire Company was dispatched to a reported two-vehicle motor vehicle accident with fire near the intersection just west of Nursery Road and West Lake Road. Lake Shore Fire Department’s 501 came across the incident while passing through the area and utilized a fire extinguisher to knock down the bulk of the flames prior to Lake City’s arrival.

Lake City units, including Engine 563, Rescue 577, and Utility 566, arrived shortly thereafter. Engine 563’s crew worked to gain access under the hood of the vehicle, which had been damaged in the collision. A reciprocating saw was used to cut the hood latch mechanism to allow entry. Upon access, firefighters located an area of active fire and deployed a 1-inch line from Engine 563 to extinguish the flames in the engine compartment. A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Utility 566 assisted with traffic control at the intersection of Nursery Road and West Lake Road during the incident.

Initial information from the scene suggested that road rage or reckless driving may have contributed to the crash. No injuries were reported. Multiple troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police responded and were on scene investigating.
