Narrative

Girard, PA – This afternoon at approximately 1:15 PM, first responders from A.F. Dobler Hose, Fairview Fire & Rescue, and West County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. Initial reports indicated two patients were down in the roadway.

Upon receiving details regarding one patient’s condition, West County 111 requested STAT MedEvac be placed on standby. Shortly after, 551 arrived on scene, confirmed the presence of two injured individuals, and assumed command of the incident.

Rescue 544 responded quickly to assist with traffic control and securing the scene. West County 111 was notified that STAT MedEvac was already in the area with an estimated time of arrival of three minutes. Crews designated the parking lot of Saint John’s Parish Center in Girard as the landing zone. Utility 566 and Fairview’s 539 also assisted with traffic control on scene.

The helicopter landed approximately 12 minutes after the initial dispatch. West County 111 transported one patient from the crash scene to the helicopter, where the transfer from the ambulance stretcher to the aircraft stretcher was conducted smoothly. The helicopter was on the ground for approximately 18 minutes before lifting off just four minutes after patient loading was complete. West County 115 transported a secondary patient to nearby hospital.

On scene, crews provided assistance to both Girard Police and the Pennsylvania State Police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
