Quick Action Contained Vehicle and Shed Fire on Oxbow Road; No Injuries Reported
Narrative
North East Township, PA – This afternoon at 2:53 PM, firefighters from the North East Fire Department were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire in the vicinity of 8400 Oxbow Road. Erie County dispatch advised responding units that a vehicle was reportedly on fire in the driveway. Engine 202 and Engine 212 went enroute shortly after.
Engine 202 arrived on scene at 3:05 PM and advised one vehicle fully involved with a shed on fire and advised that crews were putting two handlines into service. Additionally, crews on scene requested a tanker out of South Ripley as a precaution. 20L1 assumed commands of the fire operations on Oxbow Road. At the scene, crews initiated an aggressive attack, simultaneously knocking down the vehicle fire and the shed involvement, effectively halting any further spread.
At 3:08 PM, command advised the bulk of the fire was knocked down and advised that county could release the tanker out of South Ripley. Engine 212 arrived on scene a few moments later, where personnel assisted with overhaul of the vehicle and the shed. A portable fan was used to provide positive pressure ventilation to clear smoke and heat from the shed.
Crews were placed back in service at around 3:45 PM. No injuries were reported.
